Need Your Support!

 All KSAA members and friends:

During KSAA consultations we discovered that our members' highest priority was saving Sherpa language and culture. To serve the wishes of the membership, we developed a funding proposal and submitted it to a number of potential donors. We are happy to announce that the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation, Canada has pledged US$25,000 per year for three years to support a Sherpa language preservation and promotion project. The condition is that KSAA must raise a matching US$25,000 per year through our alumni association and local community.

This project will be an intensive campaign to raise awareness and support in the community about the importance of our language and identity, to develop Sherpa-language learning materials for schools, and to involve young Sherpa school teachers in language revitalisation work.

We would like to create an international sub-committee of KSAA to help us coordinate an internal fundraising drive. Please let us know if you would like to be part of this important initiative or wish to recommend someone else. Your support is greatly appreciated. Please help us make this a great success. Contact: Dr. Lhakpa Norbu Sherpa, lhakpa.norbu888@gmail.com or 977-38-540402.
